New Big Canoe Website Stirs Up Controversy!

Earlier this summer an anonymous website, https://bcmuckrakers.wixsite.com/mysite, by an individual (or group) claiming to be from deep inside the Gates of Big Canoe… began broadcasting some blogs that are quite direct in their opinions of the Big Canoe POA Board.  One Board Member specifically seems to have taken their fancy, and that is Steve Wilson, or “Win With Wilson”, or “WWW” for short as he/she/they refer to Mr. Wilson.

Steve Wilson is currently the 2nd in command of the POA Board, and clearly is the handpicked favorite to succeed Phil Anderson as Board President.  BCMuckrakers is pushing back on Steve’s political aspirations rather hard.

Here at Focus on Big Canoe, GA we take a similar viewpoint, and plan a series of candidate articles for the upcoming November election.  A brief summary of our endorsements and position are as follows:

We Support the two ladies running…. Lou Stephenson & Patricia Stimmel.  They bring a bit of fresh and uncontaminated air to a toxic and corrupt board environment.  More to come on our specific reasoning in the coming weeks.

Grant Grimes is clearly the favorite of the Board Insiders for 2nd position, and that is an automatic disqualifier in this publication’s position.  There will be more explanation for this coming in the weeks ahead.

Lastly, Steve Wilson.  He needs to go.  We need more years of Steve Wilson like we need a hole in our wallet, or piggy bank, or whatever it is you could use to carry money around in with a big hole in it, leaving a trail of scattered Property Owner Cash leaking out into special interest, STUPID Projects.

Steve Wilson’s accomplishment’s include the 2016 Developer Bailout that soaked the community for $9.4 Million Dollars.  He has also shepherded the collossal engineering, consulting and legal fee expenses in the Troon, Internet, Water deals…. $100’s of Thousands of Dollars flushed down the proverbial toilet on foolish ventures that went nowhere.  More recently he has been instrumental in pushing the mega consulting fee approvals in the SPA & Golf Course Remodels – both projects focusing more on visitors than actual property owners.  WE are paying paying for a fancy hair and nail salon for wedding guests, which will also harm local businesses (Did anyone bother to think what this may do to the local hair salons, nail salons, etc – our local outside-the-gates neighbors that depend on Big Canoe to keep them afloat?  Members & Friends of our Greater Big Canoe Area community?)  And sinking millions into a dying golf industry.  The courses at Big Canoe are more than adequate.  The Property Owners should NOT be treated as personal piggy banks that can be tapped at will for expensive projects that are not vetted by the actual Property owners themselves.  Steve Wilson is the poster child for this recent trend!

We’ll have more details, coming in reports released around the time ballots start going out, but the bottom line is clear if you read through some of our articles…. our Community cannot afford several more years of the same.  It is commonly accepted that we are likely heading into another recession, and digging a financial debt hole is not the answer.  We need fiscal discipline and board members with a focus on our Community, the people that live here, and the land that we live in.

Before this fall vote, everyone needs to be familiarizing themselves with the REAL issues.  Our community is at a crossroads.  Put your thinking caps on, explore what is going on around you, and ask some questions!  When was the last time some of you attended a Board Meeting?

Please share our website with neighbors, as we begin to explore the issues this fall.

Peace,
