DEVELOPER GREED LEAVES SOME BIG CANOE RESIDENTS IN THE INTERNET SLOW LANE

WHO IS THE POA BOARD REALLY REPRESENTING?

I was just reviewing the Windstream rollout map, and what really jumps out is that all the areas in the “No Service” zones are recent Developer Buildouts, both by Big Canoe Co, and Waterford Properties. Here is a link and visual to the map….

Waterford, Twin Creeks Drive, and The Bluffs all are left out of the expansion plans for high speed internet. The reason is that the developer(s) of those areas didn’t run the required cable. It is that simple. That was profit money out of their pockets, and so they didn’t do it.

The really disturbing thing to me is how this was used during the “Get The Vote” campaign back when they were trying to sell the community on the $10,500,000.00 Internet Task Force plans. They mercilessly beat up on Windstream, laying it all on their shoulders, but it was the Developer(s) that were putting together these new subdivisions, and making Big Buck$ on top-of-the-line lots and homes – knowingly providing inferior infrastructure.  As usual, anything goes when trying to help the Developer(s) avoid accountability, or financial responsibility.

The solution here is very simple….. have the Developer(s) chip in $$$ to pay for the cable buildout in those communities that THEY profited on.

I honestly feel for these residents that were duped by what I consider unscrupulous developer(s), but as a community we don’t seem to have learned our lesson yet – and even now the Board is daily losing credibility as they make up excuses for the Developer Land Bailout as more and more facts surface.

I’ve watched the Property Owners bailout the Primary Developer (Big Canoe Company) so many times over the years.  I for one am tired of it. This Board needs to stop molly-coddling the Primary Developer, and decide who they are representing.
